If you go to the accessories section on the parts fiche at MAXBMW they have the LED turn signal retrofit kits available for about $47 per set (front and/or rear). Warning states that bike computer needs to be updated for the change.

That's fine but why aren't they on the bikes from the factory?

They are, if the bike is ordered with that factory option.

Didn't I read somewhere that LED indicators are not approved by US DOT?

That is what I have read, too. I think LED lights could be approved by the U.S. DOT but BMW just hasn't been able to complete the requirements to do so yet. It will probably happen eventually. All they need to do is to pay off enough politicians. ;)

I think that is $47 for each light (approx $188 total).

I'm considering a bit of sacrilege. I've got a set of Triumph's LED indicators and they're a lot nicer than the plastic efforts from BMW. The spacing is just about spot on. Well, bang goes my invitation to join the owners club!

IIRC DOT requires a minimum lit surface area for turn signals instead of intensity. DOT also has a surface area requirement for amber and red reflectors for the front and rear for all street legal vehicles.

Eventually I'd like too install Rizoma Zero 11s on th front and some Kellermans on the rear.

My 2016 with Dynamic package has LED indicators and tail light. They are all bright!

I just installed the Dynamic Motorrad led signal light replacement bulbs on the bike and they are superb. No trouble at all. Remove the old bulbs and install the new led ones. Very bright, much better than stock with NO canbus issues.

I ordered the BMW OEM LEDs put on when I bought the bike. They were not on them from the factory, but I did the same with the old F8GT. No problems with them on either bike.

These look very good but pricey. $140 shipped for four little bulbs!

Are the OEM bulbs proprietary? Anyone know a model number, like the common 1156 & 1157? I'm wondering if there are more companies that offer them.
