    Afternoon chaps
New RS arrives in a few weeks. Can't wait.
I'm going to be using a small Givi Monolock top case (29ltr) primarily as back support (mainly safety feeling rather than leaning on) for SWMBO. Initially I'm going to use the universal adapter plate on top of the BMW rack - has anyone else done this? Did you use the supplied bolts and plates thru existing voids and/or use any of the actual threaded bolt holes in the rack itself? Just looking for any tips and suggestions really...?
    Thanks all
A great forum by the way - I've been scouring it daily!
    Cheers

You might start with this thread from a couple of years ago. It covers a lot of the questions that may or may not arise while you play with this. http://r1200rsforums.com/threads/givi-topcase-adapter.285/page-2#post-5792

I removed the centre plate from the bike, used two original bolts then use two givi ones. Solid all across Europe.

    Thanks guys
I searched using Monolock not Monokey and didn't find that thread. Most helpful.
Boxter - was the center plate easy to remove - I don't see how it is fixed?
    Many thanks again.

Hi Tim, I told a lie, I did not use the plate screws, I will post some pictures of mine later.

The BM centre piece has two torx screws at back and just unhook the front.

My story...and an earlier prediction of dumb-arsed questions...

    "Good morning all!
Just joined up having been a long time lurker and forager for useful facts. I am awaiting the delivery of a 2018 white/grey/red RS currently - should be a few weeks only...just in time for some proper snow no doubt. I have an S1000R as well but wanted something more pillion friendly for the wife to get back into trips out (no long distance...yet). I'm guessing I'll get rid of the S1R eventually, fantastic bike but totally wasted on me nowadays!!

I'm a Brit (sorry) now living in CT (via Las Vegas and Los Angeles) and I'm sure I'll be bothering you all with dumb-arsed questions about luggage racks and top-case attachment nonsense in the very near future!! Thanks for your patience, kindness and tolerance in advance!

    Take care guys
    TB"
