Hi all, wanted to inform you guys about a new project that I'll soon be starting.... (yes another one).
I had the possibility to buy an old R60/5 with only 58000 km on it from my neighbor. He bought it impulsively more than 20 years ago in France without having a drivers license with the idea to get the license and ride it. It was standing inside the garage ever since.
We have agreed that I get the bike when my little garage is finished so I'm in a hurry to paint the floor, walls and ceiling now and get the electricity sorted out.
Up until then, you have to be patient to get some updates and photos.
But as a starter post a picture of an bike just like it:

My first BMW was an R60 (an earlier model). That should be a fantastic project...the older Airheads are truly classic machines.

The finance guy at my BMW shop just picked up a 1955 R50 with only 23K km on the clock. He found it in some sort of out-of-state storage locker sale. 1955 BMW R50 ls.JPG 1955 BMW R50 rs.JPG

That's a great looking bike Allan......I'd be tempted to keep the patina.

Hi Gordon, it's a photo "just like it" which I have found on the internet.
Mine, unfortunately is white, don't know if I'm going to paint it black or just restoring in original condition.
I love the black one on the photo though.......
Just get it up and running as a starter

Still a few things that needs to be done but for now it is good enough.
Hopefully can get the bike soon!

Finally got the bike, as it seams a wonderful project.
The oncoming winter months I'll use to check the basics as I want to before I'll try to start it.
I want to make sure it runs and rides good before I'll strip it totally )))

That looks like a great project Allan!

    Is that a French registration?

It seems to be all there...just the thing for staying busy this winter. The large optional tank is a really cool extra...

Hi James, Yes all's there and All allen head and hexagon head bolts are ok and not abused so to me an indication of good care.
I have no details yet about which fuel tank I have.
