Fitted the R&G extender to bike a little while ago (not overly impressed with the fit but ok - used supplied double sided tape and plastic rivets) but recently noted that it was a bit loose so took fender off to investigate. appears that the centre rivet and some of the extender had worn through from tyre contact.
So i attached with some small stainless steel screws and locknuts.
Next trip out leaned over to see fender swaying and wobbling in a worrying fashion.
It appears that the fender is NOT rigid / strong enough for the extender so i have now removed it.
i contacted R&G to inform them of this (not requesting any recompense or refund) but they did not even bother to respond. Not the first time that their customer comms has been poor.
would advise an alternative is sought - seen the Wunderlich Black engine housing protection and wondered if this was any good??

I beefed up the mudguard with some aluminum brackets epoxied inside above the fork bolts. No problems in 2 years with the Pyramid extender.

Pyramid now do a gloss black replacement front mudguard shown on their web page which is longer than the original BMW unit.

I use the AvantGuard also. I even added a discreet mudflap underneath.

Can you add some photos of the mud flap under the Advant? I tried to sort out how it would look okay and did not find a solution.

I fitted the R&G extender with some self-tappers but also strengthened the inside of the mudguard (fender!) with some aluminium mesh and resin. That was about a year ago and no problems since. (See another thread from JHero - search for 'Fender stiffening' on this forum.)

Does the AvantGuard engine protector from Nippynormans actually prevent water spray and small debri from coming up through the forks and up on the tank edges.

I have found this to be very annoying and needing to be cleaned off following a ride.

I've been using the same setup since 2015. No problems.
