Spiky you are a fucking genius.Best review I ever read !
Why do think the RS handles better than the GS ? I like the TL but think the regular GS is a relatively slow steering bike and as such not as a good handler as a S1000XR...

This Trumper does not sound like Caveman to me, based on the above.

You summed up my exact experience yesterday.

I'm currently on a Triumph Street Triple and was looking for more comfort with my next bike. On paper the RS seemed ergonomically identical so I expected it to hurt me and not work at all.

So I boooked the RS and XR (which I expected to love) and an RnineT just for shits and giggles (by the way I love that you can swear on this forum).

Went out on the RS first and like you said above I have never ever gelled with a bike so quickly in my entire life. I felt ridiculously safe and also comfortable and it was absolutely on rails and I started waiting for the penny to drop because not only was it cheaper than the XR but it just didn't seem to do any wrong.

Okay I can maybe say the XR has a more comfy seat and holds me in position better while giving a less tighter leg angle...but getting on the XR I hated so many things about it that I struggled to find a positive thing to say.

It was bizarrely uncomfortable (the XR) and just didn't gel with me at all.

Here the RS and XR are similarly priced. Your experience was the same as mine .. once you ride it and get over the foolish grin that a boxer puts on your face because it is "weird" it just fits right in ... like you have been riding it for years. It can be like a scooter or it can be a beast, depending on your right hand. The penny has not dropped for me yet and I am approaching 5000 miles. Latest experiences is riding with my wife as pillion and also riding single, full up loaded for camping. In both cases the electronic suspension modes were superb and the bike handles almost as if riding alone! This is a ridiculous bike. :)

I too came from wanting the XR and deciding against it because of vibration and the higher-strung engine. The seat is comfortable on the XR being snug, but that also is not good for long distance riding and hours in the saddle, since you need to be able to move about. You can do that with the RS's seat.

The suspension was a strong contrast and equally confusing on the XR.

I think it tries to be sporty while also being long travel at the same time and it just doesn't work.

The same electronic package in the RS was bulletproof.

Shaft drive is just a bonus.

I used to get my wife's bottom on mine when we were younger but now she occasionally puts her bottom on my bike's pillion seat and we go for a ride. ;)

Spiky, absolutely love your review, except spat tea all over my duvet wot with your fuckity fucks - so you can bloody well pay for that! PLEASE send us a copy of your complaint since good complaint letters are as good as a smooth, hot, milky, round, pert bottom on a cold rainy day in the Shetlands (no, I've never been). I'm assuming you've read the Virgin complaint letter?

....not that you need any inspiration mate. Keep it coming please.

Oh, the viewless wings of Poesy. Makes me long for my past bottoms and the relationships it had with various seats in our lives.

They still get along famously. We've done a 2,000km+ week in the past month or so, with no problems.
