Ok. I had to ask because the term "streaming" typically (as far as I know anyway) means from an online service as opposed to playing one's own stored music files.

My solution is to copy all my music library from my phone to my Nav VI. No issues.

Well, it is broader than that. You can stream media from your local server to your TV/audio player etc. Like you can xerox on a Ricoh photocopier. Whatever the definition, an SD card on Nav VI is the only solution.

I am not that old and am a retired computer / tech geek ... I know what it means. ;)

Anyway good luck on finding a more elegant solution.

Nope, I agree with Grumpy: streaming is directly from an online source. Otherwise you are just playing over a local network (wired or not). Keeps the confusion down when troubleshooting.

    FWIW from Wikipedia...
And you know you can believe everything you read on the Internet...

I found problems when trying to get music from my Samsung to my Garmin and then back via BT. It was too much for the connections. I have no problems since I put the music onto a SD card in the Garmin.

Having had a read of this topic of a 5 or 6....

I went to my dealer and simply asked the question... Which would you buy?

I was given all of the changes from the 5 to the 6, still it made little actual sense. Having bought the 6 I have little or no knowledge of the 5, however....

I’m using it in conjunction with iPhone 7, the interfacing seems to be seamless, with call handling and music streaming working well with music stored on the iPhone. The only issue is if it’s streaming live from the cloud, which I’m thinking it’s if it drops from 4G to 3G and vice versa. Recently I’ve changed carrier, from Vodafone to Virgin (EE) this seems to have improved matters.

They just did a software update for iPhone configuration! I no longer have issues since the update!

I have carried out that update, but haven’t used the Nav yet.

    I’ll give it a try.

    Thanks.

Rest easy that you made the right decision given (it sounds like) you had neither the 5 nor the 6. For one, the 6 is significantly brighter in the sunlight and it has some other minor differences, none to do with navigation (its main raison d'etre), so if one had neither then the only choice would be the 6.

This from one who upgraded from a 4.

    Indeed GG.

The screen is good, and I preferred the features of the 6.

I’ve put the RS away for winter now, so I’ll explore the Nav in the springtime.
