Anyone purchase the Navigator V with their RS? Was tempted by the "bling" factor mostly, would have jumped at it, but when $1200 was mentioned, I lost interest figuring I'd do a bit of research 1st.

Anyway, probably just poorly maintained BMW AUS webpages but it *looks like* you don't get AUS/NZ maps and they don't come with free life-long updates?!

    • Available either with preinstalled map data for Europe or North America or with no preinstalled map data
    • Free life-long map updates (for preinstalled map data)

    Nice bike James
I am at the dealer Friday and will see if they know.
Peter at bikebiz Sydney. I will get it anyway because it picks up ECU data to display. I use my phone gps Bluetooth to helmet for directions anyway. I ain't sure how safe it is to read a map while riding. Perhaps someone with a gps on their bike already may comment...

Was mostly interested because of the data display features too, mapping secondary. Anyway, did a bit more googling and looks like having AUS/NZ maps pre-loaded are not an option as of late last year - don't believe that's changed but, I stand to be corrected. So the whole life-long update thing isn't an option for us at the moment ...and likely explains why it appears so expensive when compared to what the Europeans/North Americans pay as they don't have to buy maps too! Made picking up a foreign unit tempting enough to take the plunge, picked up the last unit mentioned "Cheap Navigator" thread :)

Yes. I did ask the dealer at team moto Gold Coast Australia last Saturday. TM had taken the dealership off Morgan and wacker Gold Coast although the manager has come down from Morgan Wacker Brisbane. He said that it would have Aussie maps but then you never know if he has checked.

    D'day James
I was also contemplating getting a V but found the cost a little prohibitive. I was quoted around $1,100 which included a memory chip worth I think around $180. Not sure about the lifetime updates.

it may be possible to get the same model on line and cheaper once you have bought the bike.
i will check in sydney and the gold coast dealers.
when the cpu on my RT died after 10years i was quoted $3000 to replace from BMW but the fellow who fixed it for me at his home garage got one from england on line for $1600. expensive but then the bike doesn't go without it.
that is enough to make one wish for a mechanical bike like the old days.
    cheers robin

    Any savings would be great.
We might get a discount if we baulk buy? It needs to have Aussie maps and be compatible with the bike's software!

I just checked the Garmin site and to buy the maps for Aus/NZ they charge $160.00 (US), and they are compatible with the BMW Nav 5. This is the USA site.

Hi guys. I collect my bike next Safurday in Townsville. It was all optioned up in the floor, including GPS, so I'll let you know if it includes Au maps. Mind you, I'll be mightily PO'd if I have to fork out $200 for maps after $30k for bike.

I asked on Friday if the Aussie model gps had Aussie maps and the answer is yes. but the sales guy did not know if it was lifelong. In fact he didn't know anything. such is life.
There was a driving LED strip but he did not know what headlight pro was

    Good work Rob.
Oh well, it seems that it's up to us to educate these dealers by doing our own research!
    A bit sad, really..

The quote I got in Sydney was 28000 for nearly everything but included an $800 service fee. I think I am paying for them to sell me the bike. Have you heard of this?

Is that the pre delivery fee or is it additional to that?
    $28k sounds pretty good.

Grey one, on the road, all the options, panniers & top-case, Navigator .... a smidge over $29K.
Sounds like we're all playing in the same ball park

I agree, the prices appear pretty similar all over. It's a new bike and I think that the dealers are reluctant to discount the price too much.
Enjoy your ride guys and I look forward to your reviews.
