Have been taking my time to choose a top box and eventually went with SHAD's new 59x, even though I have not seen one on an RS. Attached photos are not the best, but the top box really does look like it was designed with the RS in mind. Cool thing is, it is expandable. Starts out at 48l and grows to 59l. In the photos it is in the 48l setting. Quality is excellent. Fitting was a breeze. In my humble opinion, it is the best looking and designed top-box for the RS.

It looks brilliant, it is a long way back though, I use shad panniers and a Givi top box, but the shad looks neater, can you mount it further forward?

And Andy, did you have to pay another $100 to get the top box passenger's pad, like you do when you buy the BMW top box? I'll bet you don't.

    Dadda,
Is it difficult to fit to the BMW frame?

That is the model I would get. Thanks for sharing these pics. The full set looks quite good on the Granite Grey RS, and the side cases look a tad bigger than the OEM side cases.

nope, you cannot move it forward. The positioning is actually ideal, certainly perfect with a passenger (and I added the backrest padding too). Other thing to mention is that when it is in the 48l position (as in my photos), the top of the box angles down towards the rider - looks far better than a big square box like some of them do....

nope. but you need to buy a separate plate specific to the R1200RS which mounts to the BMW mounts. Check the SHAD website, the info is there on the extra plate needed. cheers

So did I, Andy. Paid extra for the blue lid cover and now have a neat white insert. Photos to follow soon when I've cleaned it !
