There is only one bike to buy: a blue SE Sport. Year does not matter.

IMO year doesn't matter but the latter model has a changed transmission that many forum members think is worthwhile.

Hello and welcome. If you can put up with the crash into 1st I wouldn't worry too much. Grey all the way, blue is sooo yesterday :)

Just go for the best deal, I got a great deal on a 2016 Granite Grey SE Sport. Can't fault it and think the colour is classy !!

I've had both a '15 and a '17. I agree that the upgrades on the '17 are not a massive step forward in that the original bike was pretty damn good, but if I was looking at both bikes sat next to next I would take the latest spec unless the price difference was a deal breaker. Obviously try and buy a Lupin

PS - looking at your kit seems like a white with grey frame is the way forward unless you want to budget a €1000 for new riding kit as well:)

If you're completely or slightly color blind, the granite grey or black are the same and the red frame is grey/black. If you're not color blind, you have lapis/white and white/red frame to choose from.

I'm very happy with the '16 version, I expect the '17 has an improved gearbox but its not something for which I'd change the bike. So dont be put off, just go for the cleanest, best priced option in the colour you prefer, surely that's a lupin.

It's something I changed the bike for, my 16 gearbox was abismol, the 2017 I have now is silky smooth with no shaft snatching, but i like the colour of the 2018 in the bronze, mmmm.

Interesting Ged, either we have had different experiences / expectations on the gearbox, or yours was significantly worse than mine. Either way I'm glad to know you are happier with the 2017 version.

From following the threads on the gear selection and my friend who has a 2015 rs it would seem they all vary somewhat, some smooth and some crunchy, but the 17 has evened that out.

I have a registered 2017 bike but its the 16 spec , my dealer loaned me a 17 demo and the box is better i asked about a retro fit quoted £4000 to do it can not justify that or a new bike for a better change between first and 2nd gear just wish id not taken 17 bike out .

samer here Baldy from one Baldy to another (photo cut off to not show the bald head). I wish I had got a 17 model although the box is about the same as previous BMWs. might moan to my dealer and see if they would do something. Still love the bike anyway

used to stay at Wootten under Edge on a regular basis for a variety of reasons lovely place

Yes I had a word with dealer they said if gearbox went on warranty then the retrofit would be done but even then they say it’s not as the new model is ? I think the bike is still Great would not have noticed really if I hadn’t ridden other bike as it felt like my old k1300 s gearbox , the quick shifter up and down on the 1200 rs is Great I have a full spec iconic bike

    Long silence here from Belgium,

When to three different official bmw dealers. To check their stock bikes and the second hand ones, I made up my mind, its going to be a new one...
Black colour model 2018, a friend told me why make a fuzz for a measly 2,500€
Better buy a new bike than. (my previous bikes were all second hand)
Got 1000€ reduction and the throw me atlantis pants too (I already have the jacket)
Still waiting for the bank confirmation about the loan
    Wait and see,

Hopefully I can post some pictures of my bike in this forum, in the nearby future
Crossing my fingers and hope for the best outcome.

Welcome Paffen. Hope you enjoy your new bike, and looking forward to seeing the photos.
Your name interests me. All I can work out is that it is connected to a sports company, partculary boxing. (This would account for why you would buy a boxer!)
Alternatively, it means you are a smoker! Which is it?
