just got back from tour of west coast of france down to Bordeaux
measured total all up weight in KG on return.
    Panniers 5,4/4.7
    Tail bag 11.6
    Tank bag 1.8
    Cargo net 2.4
    Me 76.0
    Pillion 50.00

    all up about 152kg (335lbs)

    bike weights 236kg

she felt awfully heavy, but on checking max permissable payload it is 450 kg, cant imagine what its like to ride one that loaded.

Is that 236kg measured weight for the RS, or BMW's (stripped of any extra parts and factory accessories) advertised weight? My RS feels every bit as heavy as my old 1991 K100RS and much heavier than my 2002 Yamaha FZ1 or 2005 Triumph Bonneville, when being pushed around in my garage and up my driveway approach. If I had to take a guess, it is my opinion that the RS, fully fueled, weighs over 250kg.

according to manual it is 236 unladen, ready for road, 90% load of fuel, without OE.
so panniers must be extra, a pannier + liner weighs 4.4kg
that brings the all up weight to 157kg (346lbs)

I know what the manual says, I just don't believe it. I would like to see some independent party actually weigh the bike on a certified vehicle scale. I believe that BMW quotes a weight for an RS model that is not sold to customers.

Had a Bandit 1250 before. That weighed 255 kg. Difference very noticable.

Steady on, you could add 30 kg (maybe more with riding gear) for my weight..... My wife, is very petite lady, is more that 50 kg, certainly more with helmet and bike gear....

So many vehicles are accommodating bigger people. The RS is really very large compared to a Norton Commando - for example. The modern Mini is much larger than the old Austin 1800. The original Toyota Corolla would be about half the size of the current one.
